Reviewer's Thoughts:
In the text read me file attached to the map it states that the author had spent over 150 hours creating this map, and soon after opening it, you'll know why. First of all, this map is HUGE (large enough to comfortably allow for 16 players). I you are a player that enjoys sniping, then this a level for you!
The level takes place in a mountain ravine, where a castle is nestled into the rocky landscape. Many elaborate castle halls, connected by bridges jut out of the mountain, high into the night sky. The inner-workings of the castle are, as expected lit by sconces and fireplaces, while the outdoors are bathed in soft starlight. The geometry of the map was done really well, without any nagging BSP holes and featured some really great lifts and overall castle strucural design. The texturing job also really complemented the architecture (as bad texturing can ruin good geometry) although some of the textures (mainly the floors) were not properly aligned and I found that some were simply overused. After walking around the map for awhile, I noticed that inventory items are strategically placed, however far and few between. Although this could be considered a weakness in the map, the size of the map decreases your chance of encountering an opponent and you still may have time to collect a good arsenal before entering combat (I still would perfer more inventory though...). I thought the map had a great circular flow and the warp tunnel was a really great way to pull the level together a little more. Overall, this is one of the best maps that I have come across in a while and will definatley stay in my personal map rotation.
