Reviewer's Thoughts:

I dug up this one while I was updating the usermaps and I was pleasantly surprised at how good this map was. Upon entering the level you find yourself in a medieval castle, constructed on a mountainous crag. The surface level is bathed in an eerie moonlight and features many nooks in which goodies are hidden. The lower waist works often lead off onto treacherous ledges, in which a sloppy-footed player would tumble to their certain demise. The geometry of the level has been kept simple but elegant. The textures were new to me (included in the file) and are either imported from another game or are custom, however looked really good and complemented the theme and geometry of the level very well. The lighting was fairly well done, with lightning effects similar to those of the opening unreal level of the nali castle, however some lighting was too washed out and too white looking. I liked the inventory placement (especially the shield belt placement) but at times I was scrounging around for more ammo and I think that adding more would not have hurt. This is one of the better maps out there and is definitely worth giving a try.

Scoring Breakdown:

Ambience: 10/10
Geometry: 9.0/10
Texturing: 9.5/10
Lighting: 8.5/10
Inventory: 9.0/10
Playability: 9.0/10

TOTAL = 55/60
